Ashland University's Master's Program Seventh Best Program in Nation

Ashland University’s Master’s Program in Applied Exercise Science has again been listed as one of the best online Master's in Sports Medicine degree programs in the nation, this time by Online Masters.

Ashland’s program was ranked seventh in the nation and AU was the only Ohio school listed in the rankings. Ashland’s program was singled out for its Career Development aspects, with the company reporting that “Ashland University transforms students into career professionals with its master’s degree program in applied exercise science. Graduates emerge with the technical skills to work as conditioning specialists, fitness instructors, sports medicine instructors and other successful roles in the field.”

Last month, Ashland University’s Master’s Program in Applied Exercise Science was rated as one of the best master’s programs in sports medicine or exercise science by TheBestSchools.org.

Online Masters reports that the company researches every graduate program in the nation in order to provide prospective students data-driven and unbiased research. The company’s methodology is broken into three groups – Academic Quality, which includes academic metrics, online programming, and faculty credentials and training; Student Success, which includes graduate reputation, student engagement, and student services and technology; and Affordability, which includes average net cost and percent of students with loans and default rates.

“We are very excited that our master’s program in applied exercise science was listed as the seventh best in the nation and the best in the state of Ohio,” said Dr. Randall Gearhart Jr., professor of Health Sciences and Applied Exercise Science Graduate Program coordinator. “This ranking and the one last month confirms what we have known for a long time – that Ashland’s program is one of the best in the country.”

Gearhart noted the National Strength and Conditioning Association also officially recognizes Ashland’s exercise science program for successfully meeting established criteria by the association.
