The City of Mansfield wants to clarify its Snow Plowing and Sensible Salting Policy. The price of salt has nearly doubled from a year ago, but that is not the deciding factor, according to City Public Works Director David Remy. He went on to say “There is simply no salt to be purchased.” During a normal winter, the city of Mansfield, spreads between 10,000 to 12,000 tons of salt, but only has 9,800 tons for this winter. Due to the limited supply of salt, the policy will be aimed at conserving salt to get through the entire winter. The City of Mansfield will begin plow snow when ¾ of an inch falls and will start with first and 2nd priority streets. You can see the policy at www.ci.mansfield.oh.us
