Ashland University Program Partners with Cleveland Browns

One of the strongest dimensions of Ashland University’s Sport Management program is the large number of experiential learning opportunities available to students and AU has added another program this year that allows students to work with the Cleveland Browns organization.

“Ashland University worked with the Cleveland Browns to develop a salesmanship initiative that starting in the fall of 2018 has provided Sport Management and Marketing students with a unique opportunity to develop skills essential to working in the sports industry,” said Dr. Lance Kaltenbaugh, associate professor of Sport Management at AU. “Through this Browns’ initiative only with Ashland University, students gained relevant sales experience, had one-on-one networking meetings with executives in the Browns organization, and were provided a tour of the Cleveland Browns training facility in Berea, Ohio.”

Kaltenbaugh said Ashland University and the Browns are working together to ensure that students who want to pursue a career in the sports industry have the right experiences both in and outside of the classroom. He said 25 students participated in the Brown’s program in the fall and since this initiative was very successful, AU and the Browns have already started discussing program plans for the fall of 2019.

“We are proud that one of the strongest dimensions of our sport management program here at AU is the large number of experiential learning opportunities available to students and we are working hard to add even more opportunities for our students,” he said. “And we are very pleased with this ‘Learning Through Experience’ initiative with the Cleveland Browns, which provides our students hands-on training and invaluable experience.”
