NC State College Announces New Dean of Liberal Arts

After an extensive search, North Central State College has selected Ms. Deb Hysell as the Liberal Arts Dean.

During her 14 years with the college, Deb has serves as an associate professor, English department chair and assistant dean of the Liberal Arts Division.  As assistant dean, she has worked with faculty to introduce many new courses and program improvements including courses in Chinese and Spanish, co-requisite courses for English and mathematics, English as a Second Language, and online course options.

Hysell says, “I am excited about this opportunity to continue working with the passionate and highly qualified faculty of the Liberal Arts Division.”

She serves as the Achieving the Dream core team leader and campus lead for the Strong Start to Finish Project.  She was a recipient of the 2011 Tribute to Women and Industry award.

Dr. Karen Reed, Vice President of Academic Services/Chief Academic Officers, says, “Hysell works with students, instructors, tutors and other college professional or personnel to remove obstacles to student success.”

Hysell earned her Bachelor of Arts in English and French and a Master of Arts, English with Teaching Assistantship from The Ohio State University, and a Master of Library Science from Kent State University.
