On October 30, 2018 at 3:55 PM The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office received a report that a bicyclist was struck on Scott Road just East of the intersection of Boundary Road. Members of the New Washington Volunteer Fire Department, Life Support Ambulance Service and the New Washington Police Department responded with Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office. Upon Deputies arrival the learned that seventy year old Benedict J. Karl who resides in Tiro, Ohio was driving his teal green in color 1995 Chevrolet pick up truck west on Scott Road. Seventy four year old Duane A. Aichholz was riding his blue in color mountain bike traveling west on Scott Road as well and the passenger side mirror of Karl’s pick up truck struck Aichholz who declined emergency medical services or an ambulance. Karl was issued a traffic citation for assured clear distance and both the pick up truck and bicycle were driven from the area.
