Mansfield has officially flipped the switch on the dry dam to help reduce the flooding in the city. Council voted to move forward with the $15 million project, which the actual name is the “Touby Run Flood Hazard Mitigation Project”. Councilman Cliff Mears says the three components of the project are a 30 foot high dam in North Lake Park, Retention basin at South Park and the mass fill along Main Street. A few properties will need to be acquired by the city for the project, which could then see businesses invest in the downtown without the fear of flooding.
