Madison School board to Name Interim Superintendent Wednesday

The Madison School board is expected to name Lee Kaple as interim Superintendent on Wednesday evening. RichlandSource.com reports that the move will come after the board voted 5-0 in favor of relieving Superintendent Shelley Hilderbrand of her duties last Friday. Kaple spent 8 years as the Madison Superintendent and retired in the spring of 2017. Hilderbrand was placed on administrative leave after a group of 200 Madison students walked out of class just after school began in protest against Hilderbrand.  Several students say they had to serve detention, after speaking out against Hilderbrand on social media. Hilderbrand signed a 3 year contract with the district in August of last year.
