“This is an exciting time at Ohio State Mansfield, and students are seeing the opportunity they have to get an amazing Ohio State education in Mansfield,” said Dean and Director Norman Jones. “We believe in student success and in helping our students achieve their dreams. We provide access to an Ohio State degree in Northeast Ohio or a pathway to an Ohio State degree in Columbus.”

Low- and moderate-income students at Ohio State’s five regional campuses, including Mansfield, soon will have unprecedented support to cover the cost of their tuition and mandatory fees.

Starting in spring 2019, the university will commit up to $3 million a year in additional financial aid to meet the tuition and mandatory fee needs of regional campus students who are from Ohio, qualify for federal Pell Grants and have successfully begun their college career. To be eligible, students must have successfully completed the equivalent of at least one semester and initiated or completed a student-success course.

“As we continue to find new ways to support our students through financial aid, scholarships and expanding academic programs, I’m excited about the future,” said Jones.

The number of new students transferring to Ohio State Mansfield increased by almost 19% this autumn. There was also a 2.2% increase in African American students and an 11.5% increase in Asian students on campus.

“We are proud of the diverse and welcoming environment students can find on the Ohio State Mansfield campus,” said Enrollment Director Jennifer Fry. “Students have a wonderful opportunity to achieve great things here in Mansfield.”

With the residential housing that is available on campus, students from across Ohio take classes in Mansfield. Students from multiple metropolitan areas of Ohio, including Cleveland, Akron and Canton can be found on campus, along with students from nearby communities like Ashland, Bucyrus and Ontario.

Students can complete one of 10 bachelor’s degrees in Mansfield: Business, Child & Youth Studies, Criminology, Early Childhood Education, Middle Childhood Education, English, History, Psychology, Social Work or Sociology. Students also have access to any of Ohio State’s 200-plus majors and can easily transition to the Columbus campus to complete their degree after achieving 30 credit hours and a 2.0 grade point average on the Mansfield campus.

“We are now starting to use our 640 acres for educational purposes, and the students and community are growing from the opportunity,” said Jones. In recent years, Ohio State Mansfield has turned hundreds of acres of woods and wetlands on campus into an EcoLab for student research, which has led to the creation of new butterfly habitats and “microfarms” that model sustainable agriculture. “It’s an exciting time to be a student at Ohio State Mansfield.”
