State Helps Clean Up Ashland County Gas Station

Jackson Township Trustees in Ashland County have been awarded a $245,000 Grant to clean up the former Maynard & Sons Gas Station along State Route 42 in Ashland. The county plans to market the property for commercial use after it is cleaned up. Once the assessment is complete an Interim Response Action plan will be implemented to remediate the property.

The state of Ohio has awarded seven grants totaling $1,492,000 to clean up abandoned gas stations across Ohio. The projects were evaluated based on the impact the cleanup will have on the environment, community, and local economy.

“Communities are transforming blighted, high traffic areas into viable sites for development," said David Goodman, director of the Ohio Development Services Agency.
