The Crawford Park District Hunting Lottery

The Crawford Park District will be holding their hunting lottery for the Sandusky Wildlife Area, Sears Woods State Nature Preserve and Carmean Woods State Nature Preserve on Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at 7:00pm.  The Sandusky Wildlife Area is located at 2035 River Road, west of Bucyrus.  Sears Woods State Nature Preserve and Carmean Woods State Nature Preserve are located on Mt. Zion Road, south of Bucyrus. The lottery drawing along with a mandatory orientation session will be held at the Lowe-Volk Park Nature Center.  To be eligible for a permit to hunt in the Sandusky Wildlife Area, you must be a resident of Crawford County. Due to damage caused by the deer herd within Sears Woods State Nature Preserve and Carmean Woods State Nature Preserve, we will have a controlled deer hunt in the preserves. This hunt will be open to any licensed hunter, not just Crawford County residents.  The lottery drawing for both properties will take place immediately following the orientation meeting.  Attendance at this orientation is mandatory to participate in the hunting lotteries. We are asking hunters to arrive at the Nature Center 20 to 30 minutes in advance of the meeting.  This will allow time to look over the information sheet and enter choices into the drawing for the lottery.   Permits for the Sandusky Wildlife Area will be given for youth deer and youth wild turkey as well as squirrel, dove, wild turkey, deer primitive, deer archery and deer gun. Permits for hunters will be issued on-site immediately after the lottery.  No permits will be given out after August 28.  Hunters are required to bring their Drivers License, state ID or current hunting license with them for identification purposes.  The Lowe-Volk Park Nature Center is located at 2401 State Route 598, 3 miles north of Galion.  If you have any questions, or need any additional information, please contact our office at 419-683-9000
