Shelby’s New Fire Station 65% Complete

The city of Shelby’s new fire station is about 65% complete and looks to be ready by sometime this fall. The work is being done by Simonson Construction of Ashland and is about 18 days behind due to rain this spring.   RichlandSource.com reports, the outside of the building is complete and work is ongoing inside like drywall.  The Shelby fire department is currently raising money to furnish the inside of the station and hopes to reach $100,000. Right now they are at $60,000 raised with expectations to open the new fire station in October.  The new fire station is being constructed on High School Avenue, thanks to a donation by business man Grant Milliron.  The old Shelby Fire House was built in the late 1870’s and is one of the oldest in the country.
