Shelby Approves Legislation to Restructure City Police Department

Shelby City Council this week approved legislation to restructure the city police department. The legislation changes the Shelby police department from three captain positions down to two and increase from two sergeants to three. RichlandSource.com reports, the long term goal actually is to have one captain and four sergeants, but that is not likely to happen for about 8 years.  Shelby police chief Lane Combs said this is not a demotion and will not take away any jobs. He said he would not willingly take part in something like that.
