Shelby City Council and Shelby police began talks this week about legislation that would restructure the department. RichlandSource.com reports, the legislation would change the Shelby police department from three captain positions down to two and increase from two sergeants to three. Shelby Police Captain Dave Mack asked that council postpone its vote, until Shelby police chief Lane Combs could meet with the mayor and the union to talk about the details. Shelby City Council will vote on the matter on May 21st.
