Mansfield Police Investigating Bowman Street Homicide
The Mansfield Division of Police is actively investigating a homicide that occurred earlier this afternoon in the 700 block of Bowman Street. Police Dispatch received several 911 calls at approximately 1413 hours advising that a person had been shot. Upon officers’ arrival, Nolan Lovett (black male, 32 years old) was found laying in front of 737 Bowman Street, suffering from at least one gunshot wound to his chest area. Mr. Lovett was treated at the scene by medical personnel from the Mansfield Fire Department and then transported to Ohio Health Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Witnesses to the incident advised that the suspect, an unidentified black male, pulled a gun and shot Mr. Lovett after a short verbal altercation at the incident location. The suspect fled the area on foot and remains at large. The suspect is considered armed and dangerous. Several firearms were recovered at the scene.
