The Cleveland Indians today announced the following transactions relative to the 25-man Major League roster:
Selected the contract of RHP BEN TAYLOR (#35) from Triple-A Columbus.
Designated RHP MATT BELISLE for assignment.
Taylor, 25, spent the month of April in Columbus, going 1-1 with 3 saves and a 3.48 ERA in 8 relief appearances (10.1IP, 5H, 4R/ER, 1BB, 16SO). After allowing three earned runs (1.1IP) in his season debut, six of his last seven outings have been scoreless (1ER/9.0IP). Overall on the season, the Montgomery, AL native has struck out 16 batters in 10.1 innings (13.9 K/9.0IP), has allowed an opponent batting average of .143 (5-for-35) and left-handed batters are 1-for-10)
Taylor was claimed off waivers on February 25 and was later outrighted off the 40-man roster on March 29 when the club set its Opening Day roster. He appeared in 14 games with the Boston Red Sox in 2017.
