Ashland University Scholarship for Lucas Graduates
The James C. and Kathleen M. Fanello Endowed Scholarship Fund has been established at Ashland University through the generosity of James and Kathleen Fanello. Lifelong Lucas residents and alumni of Lucas High School, the Fanello family is committed to assist financially deserving young men and women with an opportunity to pursue a degree in higher education.
According to the scholarship criteria, the recipient is selected by academic merit and financial need. The $20,000 scholarship will be awarded to an incoming freshman and a graduate of Lucas High School. A $5,000 annual award will be given to the student for up to four years while they attend Ashland University.
AU Vice President of Institutional Advancement Margaret Pomfret said endowed scholarships are an important piece of Ashland’s motto, Accent on the Individual.
“With the generosity of Jim and Kathleen Fanello, Lucas area students will be able to fulfill their dreams of attaining a college degree. This gift will continue to provide scholarship dollars and financially impact Lucas and Ashland students forever,” Pomfret said. “On behalf of our students, I sincerely thank the Fanello family for their confidence in Ashland University as we prepare future leaders for the world.”
Ashland University Endowed Scholarships help provide deserving students with an Ashland education that is affordable, and enrich the Ashland experience by ensuring a diverse student body. There are nearly 600 named endowed scholarships at Ashland University.
When a gift is endowed, the initial principal is invested and awards are made from the annual earnings. This provides a level of current support, while ensuring a reliable source of funds for the future.
