Mansfield Police Understaffed By 10 Officers

Mansfield Police are currently understaff by 10 officers and are hoping to add more soon. Councilman Cliff Mears told WMAN News that the city is budgeted for 86 officers and right now only have 76 on staff.  This is not a budget issue, Chief Ken Coontz told RichlandSource.com, they can’t continue to function at this level and need to get officers back on the street.

Any candidates with training should stop by the city building on North Diamond Street by the end of March. Part of the reduction in force has come with recent retirements.
