The city of Mansfield says the cost to tear down the former YMCA building at 455 Park Avenue West is roughly $400,000. Mansfield city codes and permits manager JR Rice told RichlandSource.com that does not include the cost of asbestos abatement, which could send the cost up even more. The city’s PRIDE Tax, which is used to help demolish buildings, has $1.5 million, but Mayor Tim Theaker does not want to use all the money for just one structure.
