California Man Killed in I-71 Crash in Richland County

A California man died from injuries he sustained in a two vehicle crash that occurred today at 12:44 PM, on Interstate 71 southbound near mile post # 171 in Richland County.

Investigation revealed a 2018 Honda Civic driven by Gabriel A. Binkley, age 21 of Katy, Texas was traveling southbound on Interstate 71 in the left lane passing a commercial vehicle in the center lane.  Binkley lost control of his vehicle and traveled into the center lane striking the commercial vehicle in the left side.  The commercial vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a guard rail before traveling down an embankment and overturning.

The deceased driver’s identity is being withheld pending Next of Kin notification.

The crash remains under investigation.

Washington and Mifflin Township EMS, Ohio Department of Transportation and the Richland County Coroner’s Office assisted at the scene.
