Mansfield City Council Discusses New Proposal on Raising Chickens
Two weeks ago a new proposal was put on the table to raise chickens within the city limits of Mansfield. Mansfield City Council discussed the matter at its recent meeting on whether to allow 24 people for two years to raise chickens and then be evaluated.
RichlandSource.com reports Codes and permits manager J.R. Rice said the city is torn on the issue and 24 permits seems like a lot. Other council members were concerned over disease and that two years seems kind of long for a pilot program. There is no current legislation yet on the matter. Mansfield City Council voted 7-1 against the Chicken Ordinance back in March.
