An Ashland County man was reported in serious condition at a Cleveland Hospital after he was shot in the back this morning while investigating a prowler at his home.
The Ashland County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call at a residence on State Route 224 just after 3am Tuesday and found the homeowner suffering from a serious gunshot wound.
The Sheriff’s Office said 58 year old Doug Roberts and his wife went outside the home to investigate a prowler after their security system alerted to someone tampering with the garage door.
Roberts was armed and was shot while standing next to his wife. He was taken to an Ashland Hospital before being flown to Cleveland Metro. Deputies are still looking for a suspect.
