Ontario Looking to Get Rid of Recreation Board

Ontario city council is looking at legislation that would dissolve its recreation board. RichlandSource.com reports that the city just had a reading on the matter and will discuss it more at its next meeting on November 15th.

Council did not have enough members present to vote on the matter with two being absent.  One person at the meeting questioned why council would want to dissolve the board, which would then have recreation director Heather Hendrix, serve under the mayor.

Former recreation director Janet VanCuray says getting rid of the board would hurt the community. The board has been around for 30 years.
