Mansfield Could Lose $200,000 In Business Tax Revenue

The City of Mansfield could lose up to $200,000 in business tax revenue based on new tax policies passed by the State of Ohio.  Councilman Cliff Mears said that Mansfield has joined over 100 other Ohio cities to fight against this happening.

House bill 5 was passed in 2014 and House bill 49 was passed in 2017, which centralizes tax collections and takes away home rule from cities like Mansfield.  So, the city is paying $6,000 to a Columbus Law firm to challenge the constitutionality of the bill. The bill goes into effect January 1st, 2018.
