Shelby Mayor Issues Statement On Law Director Charged with OVI
Shelby mayor Steve Schag issued a statement that city Law Director Gordon Eyster will remain in his position, following an OVI charge that came down against Eyster this week.
Schag told RichlandSource.com that the position of Law Director is an elected position and not an administrative job.
Eyster, who is also a candidate for judge this fall, has been issued a 5 traffic citations, one of which is driving under the influence.
RichlandSource.com reports that this comes from a September 22nd accident, where Eyster crashed his motorcycle into a car near the KFC restaurant in Shelby. Eyster did not report the accident and according to the Highway Patrol, his blood alcohol level was .105. The legal blood alcohol level is .080.
Eyster is to appear on Friday in Shelby Municipal Court. He does not have a motorcycle license, and was reportedly seen drinking by a witness in downtown Shelby prior to the accident.
