Mansfield 5 Year Forecast Shows Deficit By End of 2019
The City of Mansfield’s 5 year forecast shows if it continues on its current track of spending, the city would have a deficit of nearly $16 million by the year 2022.
City Councilman Cliff Mears tells WMAN News, things look ok for the rest of 2017, but the city will have some challenges after this year. Mears says the biggest problem is that the city is spending more than its taking in. For example, it’s forecasted that in 2018, the city will spend $1.08 for every $1.00 of revenue. Mears went on to say there will be a cash balance of around $7 million left over after 2017, but would be looking at a deficit just over $1 million by the end of 2019.
