Lexington Cross Country Coach Named 2017 Inspiring Coach of the Year

Lexington cross country coach Denise Benson has been honored by the Brooks Running Company. Benson along with a coach from Athens Georgia, have been named 2017 Inspiring Coaches of the Year.  The coaches were honored for using their own journeys to guide the kids they coach.  Benson has had success with winning state titles, but she has used her personal story of overcoming health challenges and a “will never run again” diagnosis to teach, inspire and win the trust of her athletes.  Benson will receive a golden spikes trophy, $10,000 in Brooks Running Company gear and $2,500 in cash for team expenses. The Brooks Running Company is headquartered in Seattle and sells its products to more than 50 countries worldwide.
