Indians Place Jason Kipnis on 10-day Disabled List with strained hamstring
The Cleveland Indians announced the following roster moves relative to the 2017 Major League roster:
Placed 2B JASON KIPNIS on the 10-day Disabled List with a strained right hamstring.
Recalled INF GIOVANNY URSHELA (#39) from Triple-A Columbus.
Kipnis is beginning his fifth career stint on the disabled list at the Major League level, his second
this season after straining his right hamstring running to first base last night in the third inning. So far this season he is batting .232 (59-254) with 19 doubles, 8 home runs, 26 RBI and 32 runs scored thru 66 games.
Urshela, 25, has spent virtually the entire 2017 regular season to date with AAA Columbus, recording a batting average of .266 (79-297) with 12 doubles, 6 home runs and 34 RBI in 76 games (.321/.374/.695). He has appeared in 60 games at third base and 16 games at shortstop for the Clippers and appeared in one game with the Indians on June 17, starting at third base in the night game of a day/night doubleheader at Minnesota (0-for-4).
