Cleveland Indians Pitcher Corey Kluber named American League Player of the

Cleveland Indians pitcher Corey Kluber was named the American League player of the week, after going 16 innings and allowed 0 earned runs and struckout 24 batters. Kluber struck out 13 on Saturday, a season high and the 29th time in his career he’s struck out 10 or more. He’s struck out 10 or more five times this season, in four of five starts since coming off the DL on June 1 and in three straight starts.

 

In June, Kluber has struck out 52 batters in 35 innings, while allowing just five earned runs (1.29 ERA) and walking just six.  Saturday was the 12th straight home start Kluber has struck out seven or more, an Indians franchise record.
