Mansfield “Tree City USA” for 22nd consecutive year

Mansfield Mayor Tim Theaker is pleased to announce that the National Arbor Day Foundation has named the City of Mansfield a “Tree City USA” for the 22nd consecutive year.  To receive this award, a community and its Shade Tree Commission must demonstrate a commitment to implementing a sound urban forestry policy.

The City of Mansfield Shade Tree Commission has chosen to celebrate our 22 years of being designated as a Tree City USA with a very special Arbor Day Celebration at 3 North Main Street (corner or North Main and PAW) in downtown Mansfield.  This planting is part of continuing the theme of trees along the North Main Street corridor.  An Ivory Silk Lilac will be planted as a part of the Shade Tree Commission’s commitment to the downtown tree replacement program for the ongoing revitalization of our downtown.

The planting of the Ivory Silk Lilac, generously donated by Alta Florist and Greenhouse, Inc., will occur on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 10:00 a.m.  This is the first of two projects planned by the Shade Tree Commission to support and encourage the citizens of Mansfield to celebrate Arbor Day and beautification efforts in Mansfield.

Mayor Theaker invites the community to join the Commission by celebrating Arbor Day 2017 with a tree planting and if your schedule permits, join us for this ceremonial tree planting.
