Ashland University Student and Madison Graduate Awarded J.M. Smucker Scholarship

Mitchell Kelly, an Ashland University junior majoring in finance, was named The J.M. Smucker Co. scholarship award winner for the academic year 2016-17 at AU’s Student Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) meeting.


The $2,500 scholarship was presented to Kelly by Nick Workinger, director of U.S. Retail Sales Finance of The J.M. Smucker Co. Kelly, a 2014 graduate of Madison Comprehensive High School, is the son of Doug and Heather Kelly of Mansfield, Ohio.

“I am honored to be the recipient of the 2016-2017 J.M. Smucker scholarship. This scholarship will undoubtedly help me to develop both as a student and young business professional,” Kelly said. “ The J.M. Smucker Company has a great relationship in developing and aiding Ashland University students, and I am very appreciative to have been selected to receive this scholarship.”

The criteria for the annual Ashland University Smucker scholarship, which was established in 2008, include a grade point average of at least 3.0, junior or senior status, accounting or finance major, industry internship experience, member of the Eagle Investment Group or the Institute of Management (IMA) student chapter or other Ashland University student organization.
