Ashland University President Signs Agreements with Richland Bank

Ashland University President Dr. Carlos Campo on Friday signed a Scholarship Agreement as well as a Corporate Partners Agreement with Chris Hiner, president of Richland Bank.

The agreement establishes a “Richland Bank Urban Leadership Annual Scholarship” that calls for Richland Bank officials to provide funding for three annual student scholarships for “a sophomore, junior and senior who have demonstrated experience in addressing the challenges facing urban communities and families.

”The scholarship recipients will be interviewed and selected by a committee comprised of the Richland Bank president, an alumnus working at Richland Bank and Ashland University leadership. In addition to the scholarship agreement, officials signed a Corporate Partners agreement between the two institutions.

“Our Corporate Partners Program offers the employees of for-profit and non-profit organizations opportunities and access to our degree programs at discounted rates,” Campo said. “Corporate Partner employees, spouses and dependents are eligible to receive the Corporate Partners Tuition Scholarship, giving greater access to our nationally ranked and fully accredited degree programs.

”The Corporate Partner agreement with Richland Bank calls for:• 10 percent tuition scholarships for qualified Richland Bank employees and their spouses for any graduate, adult or online degree program.

• 20 percent tuition scholarships for qualified dependents of Richland Bank employees pursuing a full-time, undergraduate on-campus experience at Ashland University. Eligible students who receive other institutional scholarship aid (merit and need based) that exceeds 20 percent of the cost of tuition will not be eligible for the corporate partners scholarship.“The launch of the Corporate Connections Program is yet another example of the many great things that are happening at Ashland University,” Campo said.

“The program is tailored to allow Ashland University to enhance employees’ performance and their success in the workplace by providing career advancement skills and valuable training opportunities. In addition, it ensures that Ashland University stays connected to the business entities and help fuel our local and regional economy.”

The new Corporate Connections program also is designed to foster strategic ties between the university and businesses and organizations at the state, national and international level. He said the University has developed a “Wall of Fame,” which displays each of the organizations partnering with AU in the Corporate Connections program.
