Learn Self Defense during a Free Seminar at the Library

Women and men are welcome to attend a Defensive Tactical Instruction Seminar March 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Mansfield Richland County Public Library in the Community Room.

The seminar is hosted by the Women’s Fund of the Richland County Foundation.

Mansfield Police Department and SWAT Member Sergeant Joseph Soehnlen will demonstrate the following:

* How to Resist an Attacker

* Escape Tactics

* Choke Holds

* General Defensive Awareness

Participants should dress casually in workout clothes with minimal jewelry and be prepared to participate in an interactive seminar.

The Women’s Fund of the Richland County Foundation recently celebrated its 20th anniversary. Since its inception the fund has awarded over $307,000 in grants including 29 scholarships to non-traditional female undergraduate students attending area colleges. The endowed fund was created in 1996 to promote philanthropy among women and to provide funding to programs to empower women and girls.
