Highway Patrol Investigating Fatal Crash on State Route 39

The Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that took place on State Route 39 in Richland County on Sunday night. RichlandSource.com reports that 28 year old Linda Baxter of South Carolina was killed in the crash.  The Patrol says a 2017 Mustang and 2016 Hyundai Veloster collided between Rock Road and Taylortown road, which forced the Hyundai off the road and into a tree.Baxter was the passenger in the Hyundai and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Mustang fled the scene, but was stopped by Huron County Sheriff on State Route 61.

The driver of the Mustang was 34 year old James Craig of Willard and his passenger was 28 year old Blake Keaton of Shelby.  The driver of the Hyundai was taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.  State Rt. 39 was closed for about 90 minutes due to the crash.
