Richland County Land Bank Accepts Donation of Historic Home
The Richland County Land Bank has accepted the donation of an historic home that resides on Wood Street in Mansfield. RichlandSource.com reports that Tuesday that Land Bank voted to take ownership of the home that was built back in 1870.
The home belonged to George Barker and when he moved into the home in 1882, Barker became the first Africian American to own property in Richland County. The house is structurally sound, despite needing some work done. The Land Bank may use some tax money to help in the repairs to the nearly 150 year old home.
