NC State Receives Additional Choose Ohio First Scholarship Funds

The Ohio Board of Regents has again awarded Choose Ohio First Scholarship Funds to North Central State College in the amount of $198,392. These funds will provide scholarships for students enrolling in STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine) coursework for the 2017-2018 school year. At NC State, students in seven areas of study are eligible to receive grant dollars: Bioscience, Information Technology, Engineering Technology, Visual Communications Multimedia Technology, Nursing and Associate of Science degrees for computer science and mathematics. Students in all of these programs will be encouraged to apply.


Greg Timberlake, Academic Dean was excited to hear of the scholarships, “In a nutshell … a student attending full time could receive [up to] $1,500 each semester which is a big scholarship. These dollars will help a lot of students here at the college.”

To be eligible to receive an award for Fall Semester, students must complete the College application process by July 1, 2017. Every student applying for the majors listed above will be considered for these new scholarships.

About North Central State College

North Central State is a community college that serves 3,100 students on its Mansfield campus, its Shelby training facility, and Urban Higher Education Center as well as via training and distance learning sites throughout north central Ohio. The College is preparing this area’s work force by offering more than 70 associate degree majors and certificate programs of study, including comprehensive technical education in health sciences, general studies, public service, business, engineering technology, and corporate/community services as well as transfer degrees that prepare students to complete Bachelor’s Degree in specific areas of study.
