Mansfield, Ohio — 12/8/2025 ( Press Release from the Mansfield Fire Department)
The Mansfield Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at Chelsea Square Apartments, on Cline Avenue in Mansfield, Ohio, at 3:36 p.m.
Upon arrival, the on-duty Assistant Chief observed smoke coming from one of the apartment units. Engine 3, from the Sunset Blvd station, deployed a line and extinguished the fire. Thanks to their prompt action, the fire was contained to a single unit and did not spread to neighboring apartments.
The affected unit suffered both fire damage and extensive smoke damage. Sadly, three large dogs rescued from the apartment did not survive. There were no reported injuries to residents or firefighters.
Fire crews remained on scene for approximately 1½ hours conducting overhaul operations, while fire investigators worked to determine the origin and cause of the fire.
As a result, two adults and two children were displaced. They are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.
The Mansfield Fire Department extends its deepest sympathy to the affected family. We urge all residents to ensure their smoke alarms are functional and to review fire-safety plans for their homes.
