Ontario Safety Service Director, Kris Knapp, was appointed on Wednesday, as the new mayor of Ontario.
According to RichlandSource.com, Knapp was one of 5 candidates interviewed by the Richland County Republican Party Central Committee. Knapp will serve out the remaining term of former mayor, Randy Hutchinson, which runs through December of 2025. Hutchinson stepped down in July, after 10 ½ years in the role.
Kris Knapp, 58, who is a retired teacher from Ontario High School, said, he is very honored and plans to seek election next year. Knapp will officially be sworn-in on August 7th.
