The Mansfield City Schools Board of Education has voted to close the Tyger Digital Academy.
According to RichlandSource.com, the move takes effect immediately, following a 3-0 vote on Tuesday in a special meeting.The Tyger Digital Academy, which is the district’s online learning option, started during the COVID-19 pandemic and was projected to have less than 60 students for the 2024-25 school year.
The closure of the Tyger Digital Academy will save the district around $2 million. All of the staff will be reassigned to open positions within the district. Last year, the Mansfield City Schools had a $3.3 million operating deficit.
