Memorial Day Activities May 25 – 27, 2024

May 25, The Placement of flags on our Veterans graves will take place at the Mansfield Cemetery starting 9 a.m. on Saturday May 25. Removal will be Saturday, Jun 1, 10 a.m. If raining will be June 8, 10 a.m.

May 26, Avenue of Flags Ceremony will take place Sunday, May 26, 1 p.m. at Mansfield Memorial Park.

May 27, 9 a.m. Ceremony at the WWI Memorial, followed by ceremony at the Korean War Memorial on the square.

May 27, The Mansfield Memorial Day Parade will kick off Monday, 27 May, 10:30 a.m. at the 5-way light.

The parade will form starting at 9:45 on Marion Ave between the 5-way light back to Wood Street and travel down Park Ave West to Central Park and end at the Gazebo.

May 27, 11 a.m. Ceremony following the parade at the Gazebo, guest speaker will be Darryl Bishop Past State Commander of the American Legion. Where the Fun Center Chordsmen will sing, and other Veterans will participate in.

There will be approximately 37 units marching in the parade this year, which includes the Mansfield Senior High School Band and Madison High School Band, fire trucks, military vehicles as well as Veteran’s and other groups, new this year will be students from the Mansfield Senior High Tech Programs welders, carpenters, and auto mechanics.

In case of rain, the Memorial Day service will be held at 11 a.m. location AMVETS, Post 26, 1100 West Fourth Street.

Volunteers Needed May 25, 2024

Volunteers are needed to place flags on over 7,000 veterans’ graves in the Mansfield Cemetery. Volunteers should meet at 9:00 a.m. May 25 at the flagpole at the Veterans Honor Grounds in the back of the cemetery. Look for the Veterans Service Office Van and Trailer, Veterans will be there to hand out the flags and give instruction on placement. All Scouting groups and other groups are welcome to help with this project. This project is sponsored by the Mansfield Community Memorial and Patriotic Association. Volunteers needed June 1, 2024

Volunteers are needed to remove flags from the veterans’ graves in the Mansfield Cemetery. Starting no earlier than 10 a.m. on Saturday June 1. In case of rain removal will be June 9 at 10 a.m. Those wanting to help should meet at the flagpole at the Veterans Honor Grounds in the back of the cemetery. Veterans will be there collecting the flags. All Scouting groups and other groups are welcome to help
