The Madison School district will need to make $4 million in cuts if the November operating levy does not pass.

RichlandSource.com reports, Superintendent, Rob Peterson and treasurer, Brad Stevens, shared the list of proposed cuts, during a work session this week.

The list would also see the closure and sale of Mifflin Elementary School and the loss of over 50 staff members in the district.

Bussing services would be affected and a pay to play fee for sports and clubs would need to be implemented. Peterson said, those cuts would only keep the district running for the next two years and without a new operating levy, more cuts would be needed for the long term.
