Four local law enforcement agencies in Richland County plan to purchase an armored vehicle, which can be used across the area.
According to RichlandSource.com, the Richland County Commissioners approved to spend $96,000 for what is known as a “Bearcat” rescue vehicle. Mansfield, Ontario and Shelby Police Chiefs, along with the Sheriff’s Office met to discuss the idea.
The total price tag is just over $392,000, which will see Mansfield, Shelby and Ontario City Council’s each will be asked to contribute $50,000 toward the vehicle, which is used by tactical teams and SWAT officers in hostile situations. The current one is over 15 years old and needs replaced. It’s expected to be delivered sometime next year.
