The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is alerting the public to a scam, where recently a local resident received an Award Claim notification saying they won $250,000. The scammers listed on the letter they need to pay $2,000 in processing and Insurance fees before the lump sum could be sent to them. The Sheriff’s Office reminding the public to watch out for scams like this now and in the future. The person recognized it was a scam and contacted local authorities.
