Mansfield City Council members this week were talking – fireworks, as a new state law goes into effect on July 1st, which would allow residents to set off fireworks on and around 20 holidays.
RichlandSource.com reports, however the law allows local governments to restrict the hours of use or even ban the use all together.
Ideas have ranged from a ban, limiting hours and even a $1,000 fine. Council has just a few weeks to put together legislation and pass before the deadline. Mansfield Police Chief Keith Porch and Fire Captain Dan Crow previously said they were in favor of keeping the local ban on fireworks.
