The Richland County Commissioners are trying to help with the staff issues in the Richland County Sheriff Office, as this week they approved a $5,000 dollar retention bonus for deputies and correction officers. According to RichlandSource.com, this is over a 2 year period, which the Commissioners agreed to spend up to $600,000 in American Rescue Plan funds.
Right now, the Sheriff’s department has 9 openings for road deputies and 19 positions in the county jail.
