The Mansfield Division of Police responded to a 911 call for assistance in the area of Lexington Avenue and Ruth Avenue, Thursday evening April 14th, 2022 at approximately 6:47PM, in reference to an 18-year-old female suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Once in the area, officers located the victim inside a blue Mazda sedan suffering from multiple bullet wounds and provided medical assistance until EMS arrived. The victim was transported to a local hospital where she underwent surgery and was left in the care of hospital staff. No further information on her condition is available at this time.

The investigation is active and we are still in the process of determining what led up to the shooting. Preliminary indications are that there was some type of prior disagreement in the area of 374 Wood Street between the victim and occupants of the suspect vehicle, alleged to be involved in the incident. At some point, the victim and her friend attempted to leave the area in a blue 2010 Mazda 4-door sedan and was followed by others in a silver vehicle, who were also involved in the disagreement. The suspects in the silver suspect vehicle were described as a White male with blond hair in a bun and a Black female with a hair bun.

At some point during the incident, at least one individual in the silver vehicle, shot at the Mazda that the victim was a front seat passenger in and she was struck by at least two bullets. The victim’s vehicle then stopped in the area of 370 Lexington Avenue to call 911. Officers responded to the scene and provided medical aid to the victim until EMS staff arrived. The victim was transported to a local hospital where she underwent emergency surgery. There is no further information on her condition at this time. The suspect vehicle is believed to be a silver SUV.

We are asking that anyone who may have seen the initial altercation and/or the shooting to please call Major Crimes at (419) 755-9724.
