A fire fighter from Medina County was killed and an Ashland Highway Patrol trooper was injured in an accident along I-71 in Wayne County.
The Patrol says officials responded to an accident with minor injuries, when the vehicle was being towed away, a semi driven by a 41 year old man from Florida, hit the fire truck from behind and caused it to go into the patrol car.
35 year old Lt. Philip Wigal, a Town and Country firefighter died at the scene, while 37 year old Steven Hill from the Ashland post was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
