In Shelby, officials have asked the Richland County Commissioners for $500,000 dollars toward the 2nd phase of their revitalization project downtown.
According to RichlandSource.com, the project has 3 phases and is aimed at attracting visitors to the downtown area as a gathering and entertainment area.
Shelby so far has already raised $1.4 million dollars for the 2nd phase, which includes improvements to the shelter, a pump house, pergola, fireplace and landscaping.
The commissioners plan to discuss it further in the coming weeks.
