Ribbon Cutting Held For New Richland County 9-1-1 Dispatch Center

Richland County held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday for its upgraded 9-1-1 dispatch center.

The cost around $1 million to make it start of the art with new technology inside of the people’s community center on Park Ave East. Commissioner Cliff Mears said the dispatch center fields 150,000 to 180,000 calls a year, which is between 400 and 500 a day.

The $1 million dollar cost to upgrade to newer technology and software, plus replacing 2 HVAC units. Before the upgrade, Captain Jim Sweat said the dispatch center was handling 3 times the amount of calls that it's original design.
