A project in the works to install a communications tower in Lucas, which will also improve cell phone coverage and public safety communication, is going to cost more than the original estimate.
RichlandSource.com reports, due to rising costs of steel, fuel and other things in the supply chain, the price tag will now be just over $671,000, which is $120,000 more than first thought.
A state grant will cover $400,000. Once the project gets started, it will take two to three months to complete.
