Troopers Investigating Fatal Hit-Skip Crash

Troy Township – Troopers are investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian that occurred along Township Road 1031 in Troy Township, Ashland County at approximately 2116 hours on Tuesday, July 20, 2021.

Jennifer Lynne Boreman, 40 years old from Nova, Ohio, was walking her dog with two juveniles along Township Road 1031 when she was struck by a passing vehicle. The dog and one of the juveniles were also struck. The vehicle continued southbound on Township Road 1031 and failed to stop after the crash. Ms. Boreman was pronounced deceased at the scene. The injured juvenile was transported to Rainbow Babies and Children in Cleveland, Ohio. The uninjured juvenile was transported to University Hospital Ashland for evaluation and released.

The vehicle is possibly a pick-up truck and will have damage to one of the front headlights and grille area.

Troopers are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the hit-skip vehicle. Anyone with information is asked to contact either the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office at (419) 289-1911, or the Ohio State Highway Patrol at (419) 289-0911.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the crash scene by the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office, Ruggles – Troy Fire and EMS and the Ashland County Coroner’s Office.

At approximately 9:43 p.m. on July 21st 2021 Troopers and Officers from the Ashland Police Department, with the assistance of a tip from the public, located the vehicle involved in the fatal crash. A silver 2003 Chevrolet Silverado was located at an address in the city of Ashland matching the description of the vehicle involved in the crash. The owner of the Silverado, Christopher T. McAndrew, 27 of Ashland, Ohio was taken into custody without incident. He is currently incarcerated at the Ashland County Jail. The State Highway Patrol would like to thank the public for their assistance in this case which led to the quick apprehension of the suspect.
